Q. How did you come into your current field? Share a bit of the background?
Ans: I started out writing remotely for a UK copywriting agency. Most of the content I created was blog posts, landing pages, and website copy.
The content that I got excited about was SEO copy. While my colleagues were mostly focused on hitting insane word counts. I tried to make time to hit the word count and learn what I could about SEO at the same time.
After almost two years, I left to start my SEO copywriting service and I haven’t looked back since
Q. What’s the most interesting project you have done to date in WordPress?
Ans: The first website I built on WordPress was cheap and scrappy. After one year, I finally saved enough money to build something better.
I had more knowledge, experience and had tested a ton of theories so I knew exactly what would work. I was also more involved in the design process than the first time around.
It was a lot of fun working with a designer to create a WordPress website that made me proud to be an SEO copywriter.
Q. Have you ever been to any WordPress meetups or WordCamps? If yes did you learn anything useful?
Ans: No, I haven’t been to any WordPress events
Q. What does your workstation look like?
Ans: Most days I work from a table, the living room, dining table, coffee shop or the bedroom. I get an itchy feeling when I work from one station from too long.
Q. What kind of tools/software do you currently use for your creations?
Ans: I use
- Rankmath for on-page SEO
- Malcare for security
- Facebook plugin for live support
- WP Mail for email
- W3 Total Cache for caching
- Updraftplus for backup
- Link whisperer for internal linking
- other tools include
- WP File manager
- Wp optimize
- Hustle
- Anti Spam Bee
- Contact Form 7
Q. What interesting feature do you think you would like to see in WordPress and is currently missing?
Ans: Improved security. Despite all attempts WordPress is still the most targeted CMS in the world. I’ve been hacked once and there’s been three failed attempts this year alone. It’s crazy. If I didn’t have Malcare, it would be worse. WordPress has to do more to secure websites.
Q. Out of the current plugins and themes which one do you like the most and why?
Ans: My favourite plugin is UpdraftPlus. I have a ton of content and customizations, so it’s nice to know that there’s a tool that automatically backups my WordPress site, for free. I don’t have to worry about anything because there’s a backup if things go south.
Q. Which WordPress hosting do you use and would you recommend for your clients and others?
Ans: I use Namecheap. It’s cheap, support is great and I’ve never had an issue with downtime, unlike my previous webhost.
Q. Do you like/love what you currently do in WordPress?
Ans: Yes, I do!
I use WordPress for to manage my website and it’s awesome.
I’m not a developer or techie but it’s so easy to create content, customize features, optimize for SEO and a ton of other stuff that would require coding skills in other CMS.
Plus there seems to be a plug-in for almost every complex task you can think of.
That wealth of support simplified using WordPress.
Q. What would you like to do in the future in the current field or somewhere else?
Ans: I would like to release a bunch of classes, rather than a full-blown course that teaches copywriters the basics of SEO copywriting. It’s a fundamental skill that everyone should have and there’s nobody doing what I have in mind, so it would be interesting to see the reaction when I release it next year.
Q. Can you give us some reference for whom we should conduct an interview next and why?
Ans: Godbless Sylvanus. He’s an amazing WordPress developer who provides ongoing support for Zenith Copy.
